Welcome, we are the ecologists of Vermont and members of the Wild City Project! We are here to help educate you, the public, about the woods of our school campus here at Essex Middle School.  We have a trail camera at many different locations around our school woods.  We have collected video and photo evidence of wildlife here.  We are also creating a map of our campus with evidence and tracks, using our GPS.  Currently, we are studying the invasive plant species that inhabit our campus. Thanks to our partnership with the Audubon, (Daniel Schmidt and Frankie) we are able to have environmental experts at our fingertips.  We have also traveled to the Rubenstein Lab at UVM and learned about water systems and water species.  We have not only removed invasives on our own school campus, but we have helped our community partners, Shelburne Farms and Green Mountain Audubon Center pull invasives on their property. These partnerships and trips have allowed us to gain a better understanding of our own campus, as well as our surrounding environments and we would like to share our knowledge with you.
